Frequently Asked Questions

Permits
I'm going to live in the dorms. How do I get a permit?
Returning residents may purchase a permit after they reserve their dorm room by visiting the Housing Reservations Website at housing. For additional information about room reservations and resident parking permit sales contact housing reservations at (505) 277-2606.
Your website only lets me register my permit to one car but I have two. Can I use it with both?
If you are not a dorm resident, you are welcome to use your permit with any vehicle; however, lending permits is strongly discouraged and selling permits is a violation of the UNM Parking Regulations. By displaying your permit in a vehicle, you assume responsibility for all citations issued to that vehicle. If a vehicle is cited while displaying your permit, all future citations written to that vehicle will be associated with your customer account.
I have been admitted to a North campus program but am not being offered M parking. Why?
Parking and Transportation Services uses information from the Student Data Warehouse. Sometimes schools experience a delay when inputting admission data into this database. Parking and Transportation Services uses only the official University record of status housed in the Student Data Warehouse. We do not update our records based on letters of admission or interdepartmental memoranda, but we will issue an M permit in our office if an official acceptance document is presented.
What if I want to change my permit type?
We are not able to change permit types for faculty and staff online at this time. You will need to stop by our office and place your name on a waiting list for a surface permit in another zone or to purchase a park and ride permit for zones G, Q, South.

Web/Technical Questions
The website says that it cannot validate my NetID and Password. What am I doing wrong?
If you have already checked for typo's, you are probably not doing anything wrong. Some students have a "privacy flag" set that restricts our website from validating your information. You are still welcome to use any credit or debit card bearing the Visa or MasterCard logo.
The site says it could not validate me as a customer. What am I doing wrong?
If you have gotten married or changed your name while at UNM or if you have a last name that includes hyphens or spaces, it may be keyed differently into two or more University computer systems. If this is likely, call us at (505) 277-1938. We can verify the cause of the problem and may be able to provide a temporary override.
I have an "@salud.unm.edu" e-mail address. Is this my NetID?
Salud.unm.edu is an independent mail server. Your email address on this server does not necessarily match your NetID.
Your site references buttons but I can't see them. What's wrong?
In most cases this is caused by a noncompliant browser. Some security and navagational features of the site are only supported by newer browsers.
I try to select controls or buttons but cannot. Why?
If a control or button is grayed out or cannot be selected, it is because it is not a valid option. For example, you could not register a motorcycle permit to a car. If you do not understand why an option is invalid, call us at (505) 277-1938 for assistance.
Is it safe to give my credit card and personal information on your site?
Yes. It is absolutely safe to purchase your permit on our site. We do not archive any credit card information or passwords. All other information is housed on secure servers.
