Permits: Faculty and Staff
Permits

New FACULTY and STAFF wishing to enroll in Payroll Deduction:
Please remember to bring your job offer letter or employment contract with you to help speed up the verification process, as you may not yet be in the HR system.

Permit Renewal
Faculty and Staff members NOT enrolled in our payroll deduction program must renew their permits annually. Permits for the 2009-2010 permit year can be purchased here beginning July 20, 2009, but will not be valid until August 25th. There is no rush to purchase these permits as owners have the right to renew in the same zone until September 20th, even though the current permits expire August 24th.

If you are enrolled in payroll deduction, your new permit will be sent to you automatically in mid-August at the address listed with UNM Human Resources. If you do not wish to receive a new permit, please contact us before August 1st.

Please review information below before proceeding.

Permit rates are calculated based on your annual income. The following is the breakdown of rates by income level.

Get My New Non-Payroll Deduction Permit

New Faculty and Staff Permits
New faculty and staff members have two options when purchasing permits. They can purchase a permit online, but must pay for the entire year in advance and must initiate payment each subsequent year. Or, faculty and staff members may opt to set up a payroll deduction plan for their permit by visiting our office during normal business hours. Only payroll deduction permits are automatically renewed each permit year.

Payroll Deduction
Our Payroll Deduction program is a convenient, hassle-free way for faculty and staff to pay for and renew their parking permits. Customers enrolled in Payroll Deduction pay for their permits automatically via a deduction from each paycheck, and have new permits sent automatically each year. They also have the option to select pre-tax deduction for permits.

Please contact the Parking and Transportation office and a customer service representative will assist you with enrolling in the program.

Waiting Lists
Because core campus parking is limited, core campus parking permits are obtained through a wait list process. Please contact our office to be placed on waiting lists for these permits.

Waivers
There are certain circumstances where waiting five or more years for a space close to your work location interferes with the mission of the University. If you and your department manager believe that your situation warrants an exception, you may submit a request for waiver here. You may also request a waiver when our systems deny requested lot access during the purchase process. Waivers cannot be approved in situations of perceived personal security risk, convenience, or short-term medical issues are the primary request factors. Security concerns may be addressed through UNM Campus Police Escorts, unless documented high risk factors are submitted. Medical parking accommodations are addressed through the State's Handicapped parking permit issueance procedures.
