Permit Payment Options
Full-time, benefits eligible staff are eligible to pay for their parking permit with Payroll Deduction payments, which deducts permit fees pre-tax from your paycheck. Payroll deduction has the added benefit of automatic permit renewal -- your permit will renew every year through payroll deduction until you return your permit in person. Staff can also purchase a permit at our office with a credit card, cash, check, or Bursar account transfer.

Payroll deduction has the added benefit of automatic permit renewal -- your permit will renew every year through payroll deduction until you return your permit in person. Faculty permits may also be purchased in our office with credit card, cash, or check.
Students can use a credit card to complete an online permit purchase. Students purchasing permits online can also transfer the balance of their permit to their UNM Bursar's account (subject to eligibility). Visa, Mastercard, UNM Bursar's transfer (subject to eligibility), and cash are accepted in our office.
Parking permits are mailed from a third party to the customer’s UNM mailing address (login to My Parking Account to verify your current mailing address). Delivery can take up to two weeks from the date of purchase, during which time a temporary parking permit must be used. If your permit does not arrive in the mail by the end of the first week, please come into the PATS office to obtain another temporary permit. If your permit does not arrive by the end of the second week, please come into the PATS office to file a lost/missing permit report, at which time a replacement permit will be ordered. PATS can only issue a new permit after a lost/missing report has been filed.
Resident permits must be picked up in person at the PATS office or at residential permit distribution.
- Permit holders may seek a refund of a portion of their permit cost when returning the permit to PATS. Any such refund shall be in accordance with current department policy and practices, and shall be equal to the pro-rated value of the permit less any applicable service fees. Student permits are non-refundable after March 31st.
- If a permit holder ceases to able affiliated with the University of New Mexico or the nature of his/her affiliation changes such that permit eligibility is affected, the permit must be returned to PATS. A refund may be issued in accordance with policy stated above.
- Any unreturned permit balances after separation from UNM will be transferred to UNM Bursar’s Office for collection.
Hourly Parking Rates
Hourly parking is available at the Cornell Garage, the Yale Garage, and at individual pay stations around campus at $1 per half hour.
Hourly Parking Payment Options
All hourly parking is purchased using pay stations that accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Cash machines are only available on the third floor of the Cornell Garage.
Pay-by-phone parking is available in the Cornell and Yale Parking Garage through Parkmobile.
Hourly Parking Refunds
PATS does not issue refunds for hourly parking.
Current Parking and Transportation Violations and Fines
Citations can be paid with cash, check, credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or your student account if it's in good standing. Payments can be made by mail with a check, in our office, or our My Parking Account website.

Citations payments must be received in our office within five (5) business days to avoid late fees. Delinquent citations will be transferred to the faculty's, staff's or student's UNM Bursar’s Account for billing. After the citation has been transferred, it cannot be paid in our office. If the vehicle acquires more than three outstanding citations, it may be booted or towed and remain impounded until all fees are collected.
Citation refunds are made only if/when a person has paid their citation before the citation appeal has gone through, and the citation appeal is granted.

Event Parking and Services Payment Options
Event services will be invoiced and may be paid with a UNM Internal Purchase Requisition, credit card, check or cash.
Event Parking & Services Refunds
PATS does not issue refunds for Event Services. Transportation services that are not canceled with a minimum 48 hour notice will be charged a cancellation fee. See our event planning page for more information.
