Sustainability

UNM Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) is a leader in University sustainability initiates and has ben recognized by the Sustainable Endowments Institute's Campus Sustainability Report Card with a grade "A" for the past two years. Featuring a full line-up of integrated alternative transportatoin programs (free bus passes, for students, faculty, and staff, car-sharing, campus shuttle to transit connectivity), PATS continues to incentivize the use of more sustainable transportation and reduce carbon-emissions associated with travel to, from and around the University. Additionally, PATS continues to build a campus shuttle fleet that supports nearly 2 million boardings each year and takes advantage of technologies that reduce carbon-emissions. All new shuttle buses run on a bio-diesel blend and recently PATS completed work on "Veggie Bus", a shuttle bus that can run on waste vegetable oil supplied from campus food vendors.
