Intermittent Road/Lot Delays: Special Events on 12.1 to 12.2.2023

UNM Parking & Transportation Services (UNM PATS) is notifying the UNM community and our customers to expect HIGH VEHICLE/FOOT TRAFFIC on Friday, December 1 to Saturday, December 2 due to several special events. Here’s what you need to know:

Special Events:

  • UNM’s Annual Hanging of the Greens – UNM Main Campus
    • Friday, December 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • NM Ballet Company presents The Nutcracker – Popejoy Hall
    • Saturday, December 2 from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • ABQ Twinkle Light Parade – Nob Hill
    • Saturday, December 2 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • UNM vs NMSU Basketball Game – The Pit
    • Saturday, December 2 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Event Parking Options:

  • UNM Shuttles will provide Park & Ride services:
    • T-lot on the southwest corner of Lomas Boulevard and University Boulevard to ABQ Twinkle Light Parade drop off location on the corner of Central Avenue & Girard Boulevard.
    • G-lot near University Boulevard and Tucker Avenue to Popejoy Hall
  • Cornell parking structure pay station parking, across from UNM Bookstore near Central Avenue
  • Yale parking structure pay station parking, located near Yale Boulevard and Lomas Boulevard

Road Delays/Closures:

  • Traffic Congestion on Redondo Drive from Yale Boulevard to Princeton Drive
  • Traffic Congestion at Cornell parking structure for event parking
  • Traffic Congestion on University Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez
  • Road Closure from Girard Boulevard to Washington Street on Central Avenue
  • Road Closure on Campus Boulevard from Redondo Drive to Girard Boulevard
  • Road Closure on Stanford Drive and Central Avenue
  • Road Closure on Princeton Drive and Central Avenue

Event parking not permitted for:

  • R Zones including the R/E-lot located on the Northwest corner of Central Avenue and Girard Boulevard
  • A-lot South of Johnson Gym near Central Avenue between Stanford Drive and Princeton Drive

Alternative Routes/Parking:

  • R-lot permit holders will need to use the Southwest entrance of Redondo Village and display an active “R” permit for access to R zone parking.
  • PATS enforcement offices will be on site to provide traffic and permit control.
