Mask Mandate for UNM PATS Shuttles Lifted

April 19, 2022

In accordance with Monday's federal court ruling striking down the federal mask mandate pertaining to public transportation, and subsequent guidance from the Transportation Security Administration, UNM Parking & Transportation (UNM PATS) shuttle users will no longer be required to wear a mask on public transit vehicles or at transit stops.

NOTE: Masks are still required on UNMH (hospital) shuttles as they are the transportation system for medical providers!

Masks are still an effective means to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While not required, the University of New Mexico and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend the use of masks while using public transportation, particularly if you feel ill or believe you could be infected with COVID-19.

UNM PATS wants to thank shuttle passengers for their compliance with the mask mandate throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
