“R” Zone Gate Activation – 10.27.2025

UNM Parking & Transportation Services (UNM PATS) is notifying our “R” permit holders and campus partners, the “R” zone gate along East Redondo Drive will be ACTIVATED on Monday, October 27. Here’s what you need to know:

Parking Lot Impact:

  • Pre-launch effective on Wednesday, October 22. Full Activation effective on Monday, October 27
    • Enforcement officers will be on site to assist customers with gate access effective 10/22 to 10/24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Entrance to “R” zone parking lot located along East Redondo will be CLOSED nightly, Southwest of Redondo Village apartments across from Johnson Field
    • Closure effective 10 P.M. to 6 A.M.
    • “R” zone permit holders will need to utilize their LoboID card to gain entry access to parking lot along East Redondo across from Johnson Field
    • Vehicles may exit 24/7 at same location.

  • If the gate is malfunctioning, call UNMPD Dispatch at (505) 277-2241 to report the issue. Valid “R” zone permit holders will need to park in another “R” zone location until maintenance can be conducted.
  • Additional access problems can be directed to PATS at (505) 277-1938. Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • No LoboID card or isn’t working
    • Must have a valid “R” zone parking permit

ADA Accessible Impact:

  • Individuals with an ADA placard or license plate may complete the Formstack, https://goto.unm.edu/ada-placard
    • Ensure you attach photos of your LoboID and ADA placard
    • Alternatively, you may stop by the PATS Business office to register with your LoboID and ADA placard

Alternative Route:

  • Gate access to the “R” zone parking lots from Girard Blvd, near Oñate Hall, will continue to be CLOSED nightly from 10 P.M. to 6 P.M. There is no afterhours access at this location.
    • Valid “R” zone permit holders will be required to use the East Redondo gate between these hours
  • Members of the campus community will retain 24/7 access to central campus from Girard Blvd at Campus Blvd.
